Sunrise on Buachaille Etive Mor – Scotland
Description
This photograph was captured in the Glencoe Nature Reserve after the last snow fall in early May. When I first discovered this amazing scenery in 2016 I had a vision with a specific checklist: I wanted to come back at sunrise on a day where snow would cover only the summits, a dramatic cloudy Scottish sky above and the grounds covers by the brown winter-burned heather. While it was fairly easy to imagine the potential of such a scene, it took 5 years for all those conditions to line up. Buachaille Etive Mor is such an iconic Monroe whatever angle it is viewed from. However, I believe this vantage point immerses the viewer in the immensity of the glen. From the sun rising on Rannoch Moor, on the left, to the Three Sisters of Glencoe on the right. This vista is wide and yet Buachaille Etive Mor remains strong and dominating.
