Sunrise on a Scottish hill

What drove me to wake up earlier that morning was to make a video celebrating the 10K subscriber milestone on Tom Migot Photography’s french youtube channel (Tom Migot Photographie). I can only hope to achieve the same with the English version, especially given it is the very same content. Anyway, the point is that any excuse to get up early, hike some hill and make some photographs is always a good one. The location I chose, Lee Pen hill near Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders,  was not so unknown to me as I had made the climb the week before while it was under snow. Since I was not fully satisfied with the results I got then I thought it was a good idea to give this place a second try.

Why publishing my raw images?

Normally I would never publish non-developed images since they only represent a subset of what I visualised in my mind when making the shot and only the resulting, fully developed photographs matter. However, in this episode, I have decided to share them in order to bring the emphasis on how crucial it is to take our time to capture the photograph. I genuinely believe that a landscape photograph that has been well thought through while in the field, does not require much time in post-production.
